Murtaza A. Lakhani
Group Founder & CEO
With over 35 years of experience, Mr. Lakhani started his career as an oil trader in the 1980s and has worked with various other commodities. In 2003, he established his own company initially providing consulting services to oil and commodity trading companies out of Limassol, Cyprus and Baghdad, Iraq. Later in 2006, he established Oil and Gas Management Services Group Ltd., in Erbil and started to actively support oil production and export in the Kurdistan Region. Mr. Lakhani has since advised the Kurdistan Regional Government on its crude oil exports.
Prior to this, Mr. Lakhani worked for Glencore and was responsible for establishing Glencore’s Iraq operations. He previously ran his family businesses in Pakistan which produced, distributed and exported rice, cotton and wheat in addition to other commodities.
Mr. Lakhani is a self-taught, self-made entrepreneur and fundamentally believes in socially responsible, sustainable business practices. He is also a major supporter for the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, the MindUP initiative part of the Goldie Hawn Foundation, Soup Kitchen in the UK, and continues to support various charitable initiatives globally.
