Shazia Mukhtar is the Group General Counsel for Mercantile & Maritime Group, where she oversees all legal, governance, and compliance matters across the Group’s global energy, trading, and infrastructure operations. With over 25 years of international experience across the UK, Europe, Australia, and the Middle East, she brings a strong blend of commercial acumen, strategic foresight, and regulatory expertise to complex cross-border transactions and energy-sector projects.
Before joining Mercantile & Maritime, Shazia served as General Counsel for refining, supply & trading at Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), where she led legal strategy for one of the UAE’s largest integrated oil and gas portfolios. Prior to that, she was Regional General Counsel–Middle East at Petrofac International, a FTSE 250 engineering and energy services firm, and Group Head of Legal at CSE Global UK, managing legal affairs across 52 international offices. She began her career at Pinsent Masons in the United Kingdom, advising multinational clients on commercial construction and infrastructure projects exceeding USD 7 billion in value.
She is recognized for building robust legal frameworks that align with business growth, guiding executive leadership through regulatory and transactional complexity, and fostering sound corporate governance across global operations.
Shazia is a qualified solicitor and member of the Law Society of England and Wales, holding a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Law from Staffordshire University and a Legal Practice Course qualification from the College of Law, UK.
