Alexander Sorokin is the Head of Asset Management for Mercantile & Maritime Group, where he leads the Group’s global asset governance, investment oversight, and legal-commercial structuring across its trading, logistics, and infrastructure portfolio. With over 13 years of international experience in energy projects and asset management, Alex combines legal precision with commercial strategy to optimize performance and safeguard value across complex, cross-border operations.
Before joining Mercantile & Maritime, Alex held senior legal roles with LUKOIL in Dubai and Iraq, where he managed multi-billion-dollar EPC and drilling contracts, dispute resolution, and compliance across large-scale oilfield developments, including the USD 8 billion West Qurna-2 project. Earlier in his career, he worked with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, a top-tier international law firm, advising multinational clients on M&A transactions, compliance with FCPA and UK Bribery Act regulations, and joint ventures in the energy and industrial sectors.
Alexander is recognized for his ability to align asset performance with strategic growth objectives, driving efficiency, governance, and resilience across diverse operational environments.
He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Law, London, a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from BPP University London, and a Master of Laws from the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil & Gas, Moscow.
